Hi, I'm Joanne,

founder of EightSouth LXD, certified digital learning designer, and proud mum of three. I help people grow through learning experiences that are engaging, effective, and aligned with business goals. Because when learning sticks, everyone wins,  learners gain confidence, and organizations see real impact.

My background blends marketing, learning science, and international experience. I spent seven years at JDE Peet’s, including a year in Copenhagen, where I learned to think in campaigns and measure success by what matters: behavior change, performance and results.

Since 2019, I’ve designed digital learning experiences for corporates and training institutes, always structured, creative, and user-focused. I earned a Professional Diploma in Digital Learning Design (with distinction) from the Digital Learning Institute, deepening my knowledge in areas like the ADDIE model and AI in L&D.

I use gamification to drive real learning, not just for fun, combining cognitive science with motivation techniques like goals, storytelling, and rewards. I keep my skills sharp with the Effective Gamification framework by Marie-Jo Leroux.

It’s my mission to create learning that’s never boring, the kind that sparks curiosity, builds confidence, and drives change. My dream for the future is to do this with a local team in Indonesia, growing a business that not only helps people thrive in their roles, but also gives back, my own 1% to make the world a better place.

I’ve lived in Norway, Denmark, and Singapore, balancing parenting, study, and running, including two half marathons in 2024. Now based in the Netherlands, I’m building the future of EightSouth LXD, named after eight degrees south of the equator, where you find Bali and where my idea for this company was born.
