Prepare Your Retirement
Essenburgh supports individuals in navigating life’s key transitions, retirement being one of them. They offer in-person training programs to help people prepare mentally, emotionally, and practically for the shift into retirement. To reach a wider audience and accommodate new ways of learning, they asked me to help bring their “Retirement in Sight” training online.
The aim? To guide people in the final 18 months before retirement through the social, emotional, and financial changes ahead, at their own pace and in their own space.

💡My Approach
The original material came from a group of six subject matter experts, each bringing deep expertise to their topic. While the content was strong, it lacked a unified structure. I started by reviewing the entire set of materials and creating a consistent framework that would shape the full learning journey.
We built eight modules covering topics like self-reflection, relationships, financial planning, health, and identity in retirement. Each module opened with a short animated video to set the tone, followed by a mix of media-rich content and a final assignment to reflect and apply the learning. My goal was to keep the experience clear, personal, and engaging.
🔧The Build
The course was developed in Articulate Rise, with custom interactions and quizzes built in Storyline. I used Vyond and Canva for animation and graphics, and edited SME-led videos in Camtasia. The course was implemented in WordPress via LearnDash, and we used Articulate Review, email, and Google Meet for iterative feedback and alignment throughout the project.
✅The Result
The final e-learning is now available for purchase on Essenburgh’s website. Participant feedback has been overwhelmingly positive:
- 95% said the training helped reduce stress about retirement
- 85% reported setting concrete, achievable goals
A beautiful outcome for a meaningful topic, supporting people at a major life crossroad.
